Extravagance and Industry

An ArtPoint Panel Discussion

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Haas-Lilienthal House, San Francisco

Coinciding with the final weeks of the exhibition, The Cult of Beauty: The Victorian Avant-Garde 1860-1900currently on view at the Legion of Honor, Extravagance and Industry explores San Francisco's rich Victorian past. Join ArtPoint and industry experts for a discussion centering on the mid-19th century aesthetic movement and the presence of its impressive relics in our lives today. Preservationists will discuss the challenges and importance of looking to the future without forgetting the past.

Moderator: Alisa Carroll

Alisa Carroll is a San Francisco-based writer, editor and strategic consultant to the design and visual arts communities. She is the Editor-in-Chief of 3D Magazine, the journal of the San Francisco Design Center, and her first book, a monograph on interior designer Jay Jeffers, will be published by Rizzoli in Fall 2013.
